Loan Origination Profile and Options Guide

This guide walks through setting up your profile in TMO — password, homepage, notifications, and two-step verification — as well as the company-wide Loan Origination options like the trust account, broker information, and regional settings.

Table of Contents:

Part 1: Setting up your Profile:

In the top right corner, click the circle icon with the initial, then click Profile. Every setting below is specific to your own login — a coworker on the same database can set theirs up differently.

Resetting Your Password

  • Click Profile if you're already logged in.
  • Enter your current password in the field labeled Old Password (this is just asking for your current password).
  • Enter your new password, then re-enter it in the confirm field.
  • Click the floppy disk / save icon to apply the change.
  • You can also click the Forgot Password link on the TMO login screen.

Setting Your Default Homepage

  • Choose the screen you want to land on every time you log into TMO — for example, Tasks Pending or the All Loans grid.
  • This is user-specific, so different team members can start their day on different screens — for example, servicing staff vs. origination staff.

Regional Settings

  • This controls the currency symbol and date format you see throughout the database.

Tip: Leave "Use Company Default" checked. This is set once at the company level (see Part 2) and applies to every user — unchecking it here is not recommended.

Two-Step Verification (Two-Factor Authentication)

  • Click the blue button to turn on two-step verification and enter the phone number to enroll.
  • You'll receive a text message with a 6-digit code. Enter the code and click Enroll.
  • From then on, each time you log in you'll be asked to receive your code by text or email.

Tip: Texting is faster than email — if you turn on two-step verification, we recommend choosing the text option at login.

Notification Options

Two notification options are specific to Loan Origination:

  • Loan Applications — with this box checked, you'll receive an email any time a new application comes in through TMO's online application, and any time an applicant sends a message or uploads a document through the applicant portal.
  • Secure File Uploads — you can generate a secure upload link from any loan file and send it to an applicant, broker, or other third party. With this box checked, you'll be notified when documents are uploaded through that link. Uploaded files land automatically in the loan file's Attachments — no downloading from email and re-uploading required.

Note: These notification options are user-specific. Team members who don't need these notifications can leave the boxes unchecked.

Once your profile settings are the way you want them, click Apply to save your changes.

Part 2: Loan Origination Options

Caution: Who this is for: Internal database administrators. These are company-wide settings — one change here applies to every user in the database.

In the top right corner, click the gear/settings icon, then go to Loan Origination > General on the left.

Setting Up a Loan Origination Trust Account

  • If you have a dedicated funding account you want to record transactions against — and reconcile — inside TMO, change the trust account dropdown from None to Loan Origination Trust.
  • Once this is set, you'll enter the account's banking details under Trust Accounts — covered in Part 3.

Broker Information

  • This information reflects in the Broker section of every loan file — double-check the license, address, and company name for accuracy.
  • Choose whether the broker is set up as a Corporation or an Individual, depending on the license type.

Note: A license number is not required — if the broker doesn't have one, this field can be left blank.

Integrations

This is also where you can set up e-signature and other origination integrations. Integrations are covered in a separate guide.

Company-Wide Regional Settings

  • This is the same regional setting (currency symbol and date format) seen in Profile, but changing it here sets it for the entire database.

Note: Only one person needs to set this — it will apply to every user in the database, as long as they leave "Use Company Default" checked in their own profile.

Once your changes are set, click OK to save.

Part 3: Setting Up Your Trust Account

Caution: Who this is for: Internal database administrators, after the Loan Origination Trust account has been enabled in Part 2.

  • Navigate to Trust Accounts > Trust Accounts All on the left.
  • Find the Loan Origination Trust entry and double-click it, or click the Edit icon, to open it.
  • Rename the Account Name to something recognizable — for example, "Wells Fargo Funding Account."
  • Enter the bank's routing number and account number, then indicate whether it's an interest-bearing account.
  • Add any attachments related to the account, if needed.
  • Once the account is active, reconciliations will appear here — you can view, delete, and refresh them as you reconcile the account.
  • Add any notes about the bank account, if needed.
  • Click OK to save your changes.

Note: The ACH field is specific to Servicing — it can be ignored on the Origination side of things.

Quick Tips:

  • Everyone sets up their own Profile — password, homepage, two-step verification, and notifications are all user-specific.
  • Leave "Use Company Default" checked for regional settings so your database stays consistent for every user.
  • If you turn on two-step verification, choose the text message option at login — it's faster than email.
  • Loan Origination Setup (trust account, broker info, company-wide regional settings) only needs to be configured once, by one administrator.
  • Secure Upload Links save you from downloading attachments out of email and re-uploading them — files land directly in the loan file.
