How to import properties & insurance from an Excel File?
This assistant will help you import property and insurance information into the Loan Servicing module from an Excel file saved as comma delimited (csv) or tab delimited (txt).
NOTE:
- A CSV (comma delimited) file consists of a header record containing a description for each field, followed by one or more lender records consisting of fields separated by a literal comma. All records must have an identical sequence of fields and each record must be terminated by a line break.
- A TXT (tab delimited) file consists of a header record containing a description for each field, followed by one or more lender records consisting of fields separated by a tab-character. All records must have an identical sequence of fields and each record must be terminated by a line break.
To import the properties & insurance file:
- Click on
Loan Servicing in the left panel of The Mortgage Office®.
- Scroll down to Tasks & Reports and click on it.
- At the bottom of the page on the right, locate Import: From File.
- Click on
Properties & Insurance. This will bring up the
Import Properties & Insurance Assistant.
- You will see the following options:

- Import Profile. This file contains a previously created field mapping between available fields and your import file. Enter the full path and file name or use to browse and navigate to the location where the import profile resides and select it. Import profiles can be great time-savers if your import file's format does not change.
TIP: The Import Profile is always verified and will be rejected if found to be different from the import file.
TIP: You may leave this field blank if you are creating a new mapping or the first time using this assistant. Once you've created a field mapping you will have a chance to save it.
TIP: You may create any number of import profiles.

- File to Import. Enter the full path and file name or use to browse and navigate to the location where the file resides and select it. To learn more read How to Create the Import File.
- File Format. From the drop-down menu select the file type that matches the format used in Microsoft Excel to create the file. The choices are .CSV and .TXT.
- Once you've selected a file, double-click on it and press

- The next page will bring up Import Properties & Insurance Assistant, a grid composed of two columns.

The first column of the grid is (LOAN FIELD NAME) is populated with the all the available lender fields.

Each row of the second column (MAP TO IMPORT FIELD) is populated with the field names found in the header record of your import file.
- Use the drop-down list to map each one of your fields to the corresponding Properties & Insurance field.
- For a detailed description of the available fields and their acceptable values read Field Mappings.
- Once you've chosen your fields, click
for the next dialog box.
- You will see the following message: "Congratulations! You've completed all the necessary steps and you're now ready to import the selected file to loan servicing. Please select from the options below and click the Import Loan Files button when ready.":
Save Import Profile. Click to save the field mappings as a reusable import profile. This Import file will be downloaded to your downloads folder.
Print Field Mapping. Click to print a report showing the fields mapping.
Validate Import File. This step is required before the Import Loan Files button is enabled. If any errors are found during the validation process a detailed report will be generated.
NOTE: You will not be able to import the file if one or more critical errors are found.
Import Loan Files. Click to start the import process.
- After the import is complete, you will see the following message: "Congratulations! A total of x (out of x) records were successfully imported. You must review these records carefully and make any necessary changes before you enter any transactions."
