How to create ACH file headers?
This article discusses how to create ACH file headers.
Some financial institutions such as banks and credit unions require that you include additional information at the beginning of each ACH file, such as a password or account number. ACH Express allows you to define headers for your ACH file.
NOTE: Before enabling this function, be sure to check with your financial institution for more information about specific requirements.
Simply put, ACH file headers are used to provide extra information needed in the ACH file and are automatically added to the beginning of your file each time it’s generated. The lines will appear exactly as shown in the ACH File Header window and will become part of the ACH File.
To create the ACH file header:
- Click on the
Options icon in the upper-right-hand corner of the screen.
- In the left panel of the
Options window, click
ACH Express to view General options for editing.
- Enter different text information in the separate Tabs named: File Header (Credits), and File Header (Debits).
TIP: Use Shift-Enter to enter a carriage-return.
- Click
OK to save the changes made or click Cancel to exit without saving.
